Jun. Prof. Dr. Saber Talari
Curriculum Vitae
Saber is the Assistant Professor of Smart Sustainable Energy Systems, at Information System department. He gives the lecture, ‘Applied Mathematical Optimization’, for PhD/MS students. The course covers various aspects of energy markets and the required mathematical optimization techniques.
Saber holds a PhD in electrical and computer engineering from Portugal in 2019 and his doctoral dissertation aimed to investigate proper market schemes to implement demand side management.
After Completing the PhD, he joined the grid planning and operation division of Fraunhofer Institute for Energy Economics and Energy System Technology as a consultant and scientific researcher to deal with the operation challenges of future power grids with high penetration of renewable resources in the EU.
He has been visiting faculty member of John Hopkins University working on ongoing join project about Hybrid energy systems with Ben Hobbs and Yury Dvorkin of Ralph O’Connor Sustainable Energy Institute (ROSEI).
Saber is currently manager of EU-Horizen INTELLIGENT project and serves as Associate Editor of a Wiley journal, IET Generation, Transmission and Distribution.
Current Research Focus:
- Digitalization of the energy sector with the aim of decarbonization,
- Empowering prosumers within the citizen energy community,
- Algorithmic marketplaces for local energy trading,
- Techno-economic analysis of innovative energy technologies.
- Zonal vs local electricity pricing in EU
