To honor Felix Höffler, former Director of EWI, the Felix Höffler Memorial Lecture was brought into being.
On February 4th, 2019, Univ-Prof. Dr. Felix Höffler, Director of EWI, passed away after serious illness. We have lost an outstanding economist, a great collegue and mentor as well as a unique human being. To honor his memory, the EWI brought the Felix Höffler Memorial Lecture into being. Within this framework, once a year an internationally acclaimed economist is invited to EWI for several days, to engage in scientific discourse with our doctoral researchers and to give a lecture on an energy economic topc. The first Felix Höffler Memorial Lecture will take place after the EWI Energietagung on September 25th in the Fritz Thyssen Stiftung.
This year, Prof. Shmuel Oren from the Department of Industrial Engineering and Operations Research at University of California at Berkeley will be the key speaker. Prof. Oren will talk about „Firming Renewable Power with Demand Response: An End-to-end Aggregator Business Model“. He is one of the leading researcher in the field of energy economics, in particular market mechanism and pricing strategies. Also, he has received several prestigious awards for his seminal work.
