Dr. Hossein Saber
Hossein is a post-doctoral researcher at Professor Wolfgang Ketter’s Chair for Information Systems for Sustainable Society, Faculty of Management, Economics, and Social Sciences at the University of Cologne.
Hossein holds an M.Sc. and Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering and Power Systems from the Sharif University of Technology, Tehran, Iran, in 2016 and 2022, respectively, where he completed both as the top-ranked graduate. His Ph.D. dissertation focused on developing efficient, user-centric, and network-aware transactive market frameworks for managing small-scale distributed energy resources, including electric vehicles and thermostatically controlled loads, while considering both the system operator's and customers' preferences. His primary research interest lies in local electricity markets, renewable energy integration, transportation electrification, and optimization and its application in power systems.
He is currently an associate researcher in the EU Horizon project INTELLIGENT, working on the development of open-source, user-centric, and data-secure peer-to-peer (P2P) energy trading tools that leverage blockchain and AI/ML technologies to optimize economic and environmental benefits for households while addressing electricity grid operational constraints.
